Skin Needling Sydney

As scarring is often present for years, acne scarring can cause self-consciousness and negative feelings about one’s skin. If you are concerned about your skin’s appearance, such as acne scarring, fine lines, sun-damaged or aged skin, skin needling is the best option.

The skin needling treatment we offer at our Sydney clinic will tighten your skin and make it smoother. It is suitable for all skin types.

What’s involved:

A course of skin needling in Sydney involves three to five treatments, each lasting between 30 and 60 minutes. Micropunctures will be created in your skin using a medical-grade needling pen. Your skin will produce more collagen and elastin to heal the punctures. This improves the skin’s texture and quality. To ensure your comfort, a numbing cream is applied an hour before the procedure.

Redness may appear immediately, but will usually disappear within 1 to 2 days. You can usually wear makeup the next day.

Cost: From $250

What’s skin needling?

Skin needling, a treatment for skin rejuvenation, helps to restore collagen and elastin by using a natural healing process. Multiple skin punctures are created by the use of ultra-fine, medical-quality needles attached to a needling device. This triggers a wound healing response which stimulates new collagen production. Skin texture and quality are improved by new collagen and elastin. This makes the skin feel firmer, smoother, and helps to repair scarring and wrinkles. Skin needling can also be used to repair scarring from surgery or stretch marks.

The best thing about skin needling is that it requires minimal downtime.

How does skin needling work?

Every one of the many thousands of puncture wounds causes the release growth factors, which initiate the healing process. These growth factors stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin in the skin. All skin rejuvenation and skin resurfacing treatments aim to stimulate new collagen and elastin.

The new collagen production can be continued for up to 12 mois after it is initiated. This will result in a firmer skin texture, softening, lifting scars, and wrinkles, and an increase in skin firmness.

Here is what a patient had to say …..

I was 55 and worried about the fine lines and scarring around my nose and mouth. I needed a skin resurfacing process that was safe, controlled, and gentle for my sensitive skin. It also had to be quick. After considering all options, I chose skin needling.

The procedure was painless thanks to the local anaesthetic. It’s almost like a facial massage.

In just two sessions, I saw a 60% improvement on my skin texture. My skin was smoother, revitalised and my scarring was less. It was almost as if my skin had completely regenerated. The downtime was very short. Two days later, I was able to wear makeup again and no signs of the treatment were visible. Between treatments, I continued to moisturize my skin with Ultraceuticals Ultra A smoothing cream and Ultra C facial oil 23 span>

This procedure is highly recommended to anyone looking for great results and minimal downtime.

What does needling involve?

  • Vitamin A and vitamin C are vital for collagen production as well as sun damage repair. You cannot take high levels of vitamin C by using tablets orally. To enhance your results, it is recommended that you use skin care products at-home that have high levels of these vitamins.
  • To create even distribution of small injuries, the needling pen is used to repeatedly pass over the area being treated. You can choose from a variety of lengths of needles: 0.5mm to 1mm, 1.5mm to 2mm depending on the condition and thickness of your skin.
  • A numbing cream with or without local injections and/or light sedate may be used to reduce discomfort from deeper treatments.
  • Skin may look reddened, swollen and sensitive depending on how deep the treatment was. It is possible to experience a light graze, which may be small crusted patches that look rough and tanned. The skin may feel dry and tight. As healing progresses, there may be some flaking/peeling. As healing takes place over a period of 2-7 days, depending on the extent of treatment, pawpaw ointment or vaseline dressings may be applied.
  • Although makeup can be applied as soon as the skin is dry, it’s better to keep it moist. Protect your skin by using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30+ daily.

How many treatment will I need?

To improve skin texture and firmness, it is recommended that you undergo at least 3-4 treatments. Sometimes, 5 to 7 treatments are required for scarring improvement.

Because collagen production takes time, results will take time to show their effects. Most clients see a change in their skin texture and tone within six to eight weeks. Over time, the initially stimulated new collagen will become a stronger type of collagen. Substantial results usually begin to show after about ten months. After that, results will continue to improve through ongoing treatments. The treatments are scheduled at 6–8 weeks intervals.

Skin rolling at home may enhance the results of medical skin needling.

Which areas can be treated?

Skin needling can be used to treat the face, hands and neck as well as the abdomen, back, chest, and stomach. Skin needling can be used to treat sensitive areas off the face. This is a safer option to Fraxel, laser resurfacing and other laser treatments.

How can I prepare for my needling treatment.

Am I a suitable candidate for skin needling?

Skin needling can be used to treat fine lines, dull, sun-damaged and aging skin, as well as surgical scars (over 6 months old), chicken pox scars, and surgical scars. It can also tighten and smoothen the skin on the neck, chest, face, hands, neck, and chest. All skin types, colours and all parts of the body can benefit from skin needling.

Roaccutane users who have been taking the drug for the past 6 months, who have had active acne, open wounds, infections or psoriasis in the area being treated, who have uncontrolled diabetes, who are pregnant, breast-feeding, who are prone or at risk of keloid scarring or any other abnormal wound healing, should not have skin needling performed. Retin A and products containing it must be avoided.

Smokers need to be aware of the fact that smoking can reduce your body’s ability for new collagen production.

What are the potential side effects/complications of skin needling?

During recovery, you may experience varying degrees of redness and swelling. Dependent on the extent of your treatment, you may need to take some time off from work and social life.

Infection, pigment changes, and scarring are possible with any treatment to the skin.

How does skin needling stack up with laser rejuvenation?

Both skin needling and laser renewal can improve skin texture and firmness, while minimizing scarring. However, the results are quite different. Skin needling doesn’t create heat. It can be used on any skin type (white to deep brown), and it is safe for all skin types.

Laser skin rejuvenation is an affordable and quick alternative.
