Fraxel laser treatments can be the best suited solution for those having issues with sun damage, pigmentation, lines, or acne scars.
Fraxel laser treatment consists of one to three 30 minute treatments at our Sydney clinic. We will provide you with strong numbing cream an hour before treatment to eliminate discomfort.
You may experience redness, swelling and darkening of pigmentation for 3-4 days. Makeup can be worn during recovery.
$995 per treatment or a course of 3 treatments for $2650.
If you want younger-looking skin without a lot of fuss, then our new Fraxel Dual is right for you. Our Fraxel laser will improve your skin’s texture and tone. It can also work to reduce sun damage and pigmentation, and it can soften your lines and acne scars as well. One to three 30 minute treatments at our Sydney clinic are all that you will typically need. Strong numbing cream will be applied to your skin an hour before treatment to eliminate discomfort. Unlike the original Fraxel laser, the Dual laser will effectively target both the surface of your skin as well as the deeper layers of your skin, leaving you with superior results.
Benefits of Fraxel treatments:
- mproved tone and texture
- Reduction of mild to moderate wrinkling, especially in the 30-50 year age group.
- Reduced sun damage and unwanted brown spots.
- Improved appearance of acne scars and surgical scars.
- Improved skin on the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, legs and back.
Fractional lasers are generally NOT recommended for capillaries or redness. These conditions are better addressed using a targeted vascular laser. With very deep wrinkling or wrinkles that are associated with volume loss and sagging, you might want to consider more aggressive treatments or surgery.
What are the advantages of the Fraxel Dual system?
- The Fraxel Dual uniquely incorporates two laser systems with wavelengths 1550 and 1927.
- 1550: this wavelength will penetrates deeply into your skin, specifically targeting concerns such as wrinkles and acne scarring.
- 1927: this wavelength will effectively target the tone, texture, pigmentation and other more superficial signs of aging in your skin.
- Our Fraxel Dual laser will treat your skin’s pigment problems, brown spots, and brown sun damage better than the traditional Fraxel laser. The Dual laser’s effect on melasma is not fully known so let us know if that is a concern of yours. The Dual laser is also the preferred treatment for larger areas like a sun damaged chest, arms, legs, or back.
- Each laser treatment is tailored to maximise the desired outcome for your skin. Depending on your skin, we will use both wavelengths in order to achieve the best results possible.
How does it work?
The Fraxel laser treatment uses patented fractional technology to target your damaged skin with microscopic laser columns of energy. This energy penetrates deeply into the skin. Because the laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, your skin will heal rapidly. The Fraxel laser stimulates your body’s own natural healing process, encouraging it to replace old damaged cells with fresh, glowing healthy skin.
When do results appear and how long do they last?
The results of the Fraxel Dual laser are both immediate and progressive. Soon after the treatment, you will have skin that looks and feels smoother and brighter. In the next 3 to 6 months, you will see even more improvement as the deeper layers of your skin will continue to create new collagen. The results of the Fraxel are long lasting depending on your lifestyle, age, skin condition, and skin care regime.
How many treatments will I need?
You will need three to five treatments that are approximately 3-8 weeks apart. This time frame and treatment structure will allow for complete healing and the production of new collagen and elastin to replace your damaged tissue. We will provide you with an estimate at your consultation. The number of treatments that you will need is determined by the extent of your sun damage, acne scarring, or wrinkles. You will see gradual improvement with each treatment.
What should I expect after treatment?
Depending on the level of your Fraxel laser treatment, you may experience redness or swelling that will diminish over the next few days. Treated pigmentation will look darker and your skin will naturally bronze over the next week or two. As you continue with the treatment sessions, the sunburned-to-bronzed appearance will appear again after each Fraxel laser treatment. Your skin will flake and exfoliate normally, leaving you with fresh, glowing, smooth skin. See our Pre and Post Treatment Instructions.
Does a Fraxel DUAL treatment hurt?
Most of our patients have describe an increased sensation of heat during the treatment. To minimise discomfort, topical anaesthesia will be applied to your skin before the procedure. Cold air will be used on the treatment area during the procedure as well. After your Fraxel laser treatment, most of our patients feel like they have a sunburn. This feeling usually diminishes in 1 to 3 hours.
Contraindications for treatment
There are reasons that some people should not do a fractional laser treatment. If you suffer from bleeding disorders, active infections or skin eruptions like Rosacea, have used certain oral acne medications within the last 12 months, or have vitiligo, then this treatment is not recommended. Laser treatment is also not recommended for those who are pregnant. Optimum results depend upon your body’s capacity to manufacture new collagen. Smokers should be aware that smoking compromises this ability.
Is Fraxel safe?
Fraxel laser treatment is a safe option that backed by extensive research. At the same time, there are always some risks with any laser procedure. Your clinician will discuss your expected course of recovery during your consultation.
