What are dermal fillers used for fine lines and wrinkles?
At Heber Davis we use only “natural” dermal fillers. These are soft smooth gels that are structurally identical to the padding that occurs naturally in our skin. As skin ages, our own padding gradually breaks down, resulting in skin sag and wrinkles. Dermal fillers simply replace what has been lost, naturally and instantly, leaving you looking refreshed, smoother and more attractive.
Because these dermal fillers are natural gels, they are biocompatible, non permanent, rarely cause reactions and can be easily dissolved if required.
How do dermal fillers erase fine lines and wrinkles?
Dermal fillers erase lines and wrinkles simply by replacing our skin’s padding that age, stress, smoking, poor diet, or infection such as acne, has worn away. Microinjections of a specially soft, pliant dermal filler, placed superficially in the skin, gently lifts and fills fine lines, wrinkles or some types of acne scars, invisibly and instantly blending them with the surrounding skin in just a few minutes and with little or no downtime.
An important bonus is that dermal fillers actually prevent your lines and wrinkles from becoming any deeper. Whilst your dermal filler is in place, all the stresses and strains that caused your wrinkles in the first place, wear out your dermal filler, sparing your wrinkle and preventing it from deepening.
Lines and wrinkles that respond well to dermal filling include lip lines or “smoker’s lines” , those vertical lines running into the lip that allow lipstick to “bleed”, lines across the cheeks, lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth and fine lines around the eyes and on the forehead. Subtle reduction in facial lines contributes to an overall impression of youth and vitality.
In some areas dermal fillers are often used in conjunction with anti-wrinkle injections, or muscle relaxants, for better and longer lasting results.
Dermal fillers are the perfect option for the man or woman who wants to keep lines and wrinkles at bay. Dermal fillers can help you look years younger, instantly and with minimal downtime. Dermal fillers allow you to take control of your appearance and to feel confident about the way you look.
What’s the difference between anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers?
Whilst both treat wrinkles they are designed to treat different sorts of wrinkles and they work in different ways.
Anti-wrinkle injections treat wrinkles that appear with muscle movements, such as movements that cause frowning, squinting or worrying. By relaxing the muscles that cause these wrinkles to form, anti-wrinkle injections leave the overlying skin looking smooth and wrinkle free.
Dermal fillers on the other hand work by physically “filling in” or plumping wrinkles that are ingrained in the skin and that are obvious both when the face is moving and when it is at rest.
Can dermal fillers be combined with anti-wrinkle injections?
Yes. Despite having these different actions, dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections are commonly used together. In fact, anti-wrinkle injections often prolong the effect of dermal fillers. By preventing the facial movements that caused the wrinkles in the first place they prevent stresses and strains on the area and delay the breakdown of your filler.
Dermal fillers do not correct wrinkles caused by muscle contraction. These dynamic wrinkles are better treated using anti-wrinkle injections. Some patients do best with a combination of dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections.
How long will my result last?
Longevity depends on which part of your face is treated and which filler is used. Approximately 4-18 months.
Dependent upon the amount of correction required. This can only be determined during your initial consultation. From $400.
